ABOUT THE BLOG

CurtisTucker.com (aka ShaggyDuck.com) is my personal little blog about the life and times of a lucky guy living the proverbial “American Dream”. I live in Enid, Oklahoma with my Hot Wife and our two Crumb Crunchers. I own a few small companies that I run online from home in an office in my backyard. I’m an Indiepreneur!

This blog is a collection of my thoughts, quotes, ideas, photographs, videos, stories and art. I’ll also journal about being a dad, husband, entrepreneur, kid from the 70s and adventure seeker. I hope to motivate people to lead a more inspired life and always look on the bright side.

A new category I’ll be adding is Life After 60! In 2022 I turned 60 but feel like I’m just getting started. I’ll have stories and tips for life after age 50, 60 and beyond! As they say, “you’re only as old as you feel.” So always, and I mean always, feel young!

This blog and companion podcast, A Shaggy Life, will follow the day to day activities of working for yourself with all of the the joys of freedom and pitfalls of business ownership. Follow along as Enid Buzz tracks the happenings of Enid, Oklahoma and Shaggy Duck Studio creates a series of paintings, designs a clothing brand, writes a book and more. Become a BuzzHead or a Shagghead! We’re a casual, sneaker wearing, motivated bunch. We’re glad you’re here!

I LOVE THE 70s

My favorite memories are from the 70s. I had a great time growing up, spending time with my best friends and running all over town without a worry in the world. I’ll try to bring a smile to your face by mentioning long lost 70′s toys, candy, TV shows, movies or other vintage items. My junior high buddy and I have even started our own 70’s Buzz Podcast!

I’m still great friends with the gang that all lived on or near W. Broadway. We had an idyllic childhood and spent hours together playing games, running wild and creating memories. I’ll have many posts about those memories under the Journal link and 70s category.

I am currently getting my shaggy ducks in a row to write a book about our adventures in the 70s! The working title is The Banana Seat Squad! Learn more at http://curtistucker.com/the-banana-seat-squad/.

“I’m a pretty lucky guy, I work from a computer for a living, have a beautiful wife, two brilliant daughters, a supportive family and great friends. Vita Brevis, Carpe Diem!”

WHO IS CURTIS D TUCKER?

I am the Curtis Tucker, aka Shaggs, from Enid, Oklahoma just to set the record straight. I’m the guy that went to McKinley grade school, Waller Junior High, Enid High School, Northern Oklahoma College (I was part of the Markley Hall Crew), Oklahoma State University (Lived in the Yellow Party House) and Central State University.

I was born on December 20, 1962 at Brooke General Army Hospital, Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. My parents are Tilford Neal Tucker and Elizabeth Ann Scaling. I had one older brother that died at birth named Darrel Wayne Tucker and I have one sister named Connie Jill Tucker Liles.

Also through the beauty of social media I have been able to connect with my two half-sisters, on my dad’s side, which I have never met. I lost contact with my dad when I was eight years old and he moved to Nebraska. His daughters from a second marriage are Jeni and Jodi, who I hope to meet in person soon.

I was part of a five member crew of kids that grew up on W. Broadway in Enid, Oklahoma where we played a game called Musklins for hours. We rode banana seat bikes all over town, trekked through creeks for tadpoles and bought comic books at the local pawn shops. I grew up with Scooby Doo, Dr. Demento and space food sticks.

I have been married to Denise Noel Appling Evans since July 24, 1998 and have two daughters. Our daughters were born in 2002 and 2003, 17 months apart. They both went off to college and were picked to be on Division I College Pom Teams. So for five years we split our football/basketball/baseball seasons between the University of Oklahoma with Piper and the University of Arkansas with Chaney. And I’m an Oklahoma State Cowboy fan!

I’ve lived or stayed in San Antonio, TX – Turkey (Yes, the country) – Burns Flat, OK – Enid, OK – Tonkawa, OK – Stillwater, OK – Yorktown, TX – Edmond, OK – Midwest City, OK – Moore, OK.

I’ve been employed as a dishwasher (The Sage Room), fence builder (Jim Thorpe), roofer (GE Wheeler), car washer (Danny’s Datsun), ice delivery driver (Sturdevant Ice), farmer/harvester (The McNaughton’s), maintenance worker (Wilkinson Hall, Tonkawa), door assembly plant worker (Cuero, TX), maintenance worker (OSU Athletic Department), silk screen printer (Tom Bennett Manufacturing), graphic artist (Scrivner), Director of Advertising (Evans Drug), owner of my own businesses (Enid Buzz, BuzzHead Radio, Shaggy Duck Studio, Curtoons Cartoon Company, ChuckleBerry’s Paper Card Company, Bottle Caps Mercantile). I also am part of The 70’s Buzz Podcast and the BuzzHead Radio Podcast.

In my old age I’ve become a sneaker, wool sweater wearing Apple addict. I love to spend time creating new revenues of income from my web sites, blogs, podcasts, cartoons and who knows what. I was known as That Sneaker Wearing Entrepreneurial Cartoonist Internet Guy then it was That Buzz Guy and now I’m just Shaggs. I work out of a studio in my backyard and spend my day coddling Mr. Saucy Pants (aka Graham), our Mini Aussie Doodle.

I workout every morning and have maintained a positive state of mind. I enjoy getting outdoors to walk or run 7 miles no matter what the weather. I play a smidgen of guitar, collect 70s stuff and love dreaming about surfing and skateboarding my days away. Sunshine, shorts and sneakers are my vibe.

I’m also the kid in the 70s photo online holding the Farrah Fawcett poster. The photo shows up on all kinds of websites and social media account. The pic was taken on Christmas morning in Enid, Oklahoma in 1976. I had just turned 14 years old. There’s a blog post about that photo on this website.
